and if you go in for emissions, set the idle even higher, better volumetric efficiency- lower tailpipe emissions. 1350 or so

Good to know. Thanks Mike.

FWIW, brian at fuel moto says don't idle a TC below 900 for oiling reasons

Default Low Idle

On the Older (2006 and older) the idele was set above 1000, because of oiling.
The newer oil pumps (after 2006) have 30% more volume and 60% more scavenging
(according to HD ) right??
So, couldn't we actually lower the idle a couple 100RPMs on the newer models and still be safe???

I wouldn't- it would be totally on the owner- and if there is a warranty why toss it out the window?

there are many parts of this equation, remember that our motors do not have much of a flywheel to store forward momentum. flywheels are lightened to allow for quicker acceleration

My 99 Ultra has 99,860 miles on it & idles around 600rpms. Has for over the past 50,000 miles & not sure beyond that. Even when I try to set it up around 1000 it will lower the idle on it;s own to the 600 mark. Seems to be cooler in the summer (from the times I did have it set to around 900-1000) , sounds better & oil pressure does not get that low to worry about. Good luck
