Default Limp mode again

2008 FLTR Road Glide, stage one [ Screaming Eagle Touring Performance Mufflers, Screaming Eagle Ventilator A/C w/ K&N Filter ], dyno tuned w/ Screaming Eagle Pro Race Tuner. Will the rev limiter put the bike in limp mode. Today was one of those times that I just had the need for speed. 1st gear hit about 5000 rpm, 2nd gear about 5300 rpm, went to shift into 3rd gear Limp mode. Pulled off on the shoulder went through the reset procedure, had no problems the rest of the day shifting around 3200 to 4200 rpm's. The bike does run great and i get very good mpg.

Anyone have an idea why bike would go into limp home mode when rpm's go above 5300

Not sure RPM's are the problem. Brother had a 2010 Limited that would go into limp mode when ever it felt like it. After it progressively did it more often they found a wire broken inside its insulation due to a sharp kink from the ECM to the throttle body actuator. The scoot was back to dealer to many times to count until a tech ran a continuity check on wires & found the break. The insulation on wire looked fine but wire inside was broke.

I had mine go into limp mode once but it was due to a faculty tach.. Dealer replaced it.

That is what is so great about this forum. Just never know when somebody will chime in with a possible solution. Not saying this is OP's issue but worth checking into.

2007-2008 was common years for the dreaded Limp mode always ending up being the throttle body wiring.....dielectric grease as many connection as you can get to....I'm not preachin to you but reving 1st gear that high is not a common practice unless its being dyno'd, see if it stops doing the' Limp' if you stop reving it like that.

Look at your Dyno run, It will show you where the "Cut Off RPM" is, should be around 6000 - 6200.
The tuner may have set it lower (5800) to protect the motor as you don't want to over rev it.

I had the same thing occur to my 06 RG this past summer. I was riding through KY when the bike started cutting out intermittently on one cylinder. I trucked the bike back home and took it to an indy after I spent a few days trying to figure it out myself. Turned out a wire lead going to the rear cylinder injector had finally broke apart inside the insulation. A continuity check didn't find it because I didn't flex the wires while probing the wires.
