Default Visor trim ring

I installed my aux lamp ones and they went easy and fit nice and tight with no gap. The Headlight trim on the other hand....

Searched and found a few I remember seeing and used the adjustable clamp to pull it tighter and hold to ease install. Got it all tightened up and no gap but it is kind of loose and I can push and feel it move some. Figured it was the little spear tip on top of the nacelle so filled a little down and reinstalled. Tighter but still not nice and snug like the Aux lamp trim rings. Anyone helpful tips I may have missed in my searches?

Also, read a few posts about adjusting handlebars on Road Kings and from everything people were saying, you had to take all apart and remove clamp cover.....read in service manual and you can remove the "cover" from the clamp cover with a screwdriver and adjust with the 2 back bolts. Torque is 16-20 ft lbs. just figured I'd share that to save a few people the trouble like I read in other posts.

Pick up some 1/4" X 1/2" weatherstripping at you local hardware store.Take the original trim ring off. Run the weatherstripping completely around on the back inside of the new ring and reinstall. Tadah! Should be fairly tight and with very little gap.

Thank ya. I was thinking that would work or somethign similar but I knew I read quite a few threads before about tricks for the gap and making them tighter but when I searched I didn't find what I had remembered seeing.

Oh yeah...you mean leave the stock ring off completely or putting it back in as well? I would assume putting stock ring back in but...yeah I'm asking a dumb question.

I struggled with this for quite a while. Tried the weather stripping and all that. Someone posted a solution on here where you leave the stock ring off and put 1/2 inch washers behind the screws. That gives the trim ring something solid to grab onto. This works like a charm, doesn't leave a gap, and saves a lot of agony and curse words.

So take the stock ring off, put washers in between the headlight housing and screw holes to space the headlight housing, and reinstall? 1/2" diamter but what thickiness? I would imagine just a common one as it doesn't need to too much to grab to and you don't want to use up most of your thread length on the headlight screws

washers go between headlight housing and nacelle (at least on a Road King) and they don't have to be thick.

I put the Trim Ring on my SG and have the aforementioned gap around it and the headlight. Thought I was installing it wrong........and then I was at a Rally, and every trim ring I saw had that gap. Poor design HD!! Photos of the other alternative method to go gapless would be appreciated.

I can't see it while I'm riding, so it doesn't bother me.
