Pump the pre-load to 40psi and get a 89lbs girfriend. That is the cheapest.

Second cheapest is talk to the harley dealer about a set of factory take-offs from an ULTRA CLASSIC

Loaded down tour Pac with wife on the back I run about 40psi. I'm about 180 she is about 120. Riding solo with tour Pac off 25psi seems to work well for me.

More than likely the shocks didn't have enough air in them. I don't think dealers check any of them.
(in my 2009) I'm 225 lbs and had to run at least 28 lbs in the shocks riding solo. At 22lbs the shocks would bottom out.

My new 2012 had 0 psi in when I picked it up!!! I didn't ride it that way, pumped the shocks up to about 40 for the wife and I, combined 340.

Who has actually changed out the SG shocks to the Ultra Glide shocks?
What difference is there really?

I have thought about changing to the 13" factory shocks and adding a 1" lowering kit to get the ride height back. I don't know if that would get back the cushy ride I had on my Electraglide Classic but don't see why it wouldn't.

LOL - I'll start looking, but 89lbs is a little light for me. I like some meat.

The dealer is going to allow me to take it out again this weekend for a demo and pump up the shocks to try to improve the ride.

Does anyone have any inexpensive suspension suggestions for a 6'3" 255 lbs rider on this SG.

thanks
I weigh about the same (though much shorter) and 25-30 psi in the shocks work well for me with the Street Glide.

This makes no sense.

Adding a lowering kit will change the height and also change the angle of suppression of the shock and will feel horrible. I have a lowering kit and I can say the difference is remarkable but in a bad way. I took it off and left the SG factory shocks which are the harley lowering shocks for touring bikes.
