I picked up a 2012 FLHX for demo a few weeks ago and was disappointed in the rear suspension. On the highway, the ride was great.
The back road trip with set my a$$ on fire - bottoming out and very firm.
The dealer is going to allow me to take it out again this weekend for a demo and pump up the shocks to try to improve the ride.
Does anyone have any inexpensive suspension suggestions for a 6'3" 255 lbs rider on this SG.
i run 30-35 in mine if im by myself, im 225lb, my gilr is about 120 and ill run it at 42-45 w/ her on the back, rides pretty good. you can look into installing adjustable on the fly air ride, im doing mine this winter when i get time
I find 7 PSI works well for me, solo.
235# with riding gear and maybe another 15 pounds of crap forgotten in the saddlebags
7 psi? What year is your bike? '08 models recommend about 12-15 psi for that combo? In '09 they changed the systems and recommend about twice that psi for those specs.
I know for certain that if you are under pressure o nthese bikes, the ride is horrible. But be cautious to not overfill, you'll blow out the lines.

Same here.
OP if the adjustable shocks aren't pumped up just right these bikes will give you a WTF kinda ride...
When I picked up my FLTRX and rode home with my wife on the back I thought she was going to cry the bike was hitting so hard.
Stupid me didn't think to tell the sales guy to put some air in there for me...

for inexpensive, you could go with the 13'' touring shocks. a lot of people would trade you straight up for your 12''. only expense would be shipping. is that cheap enough?
