Default 2012 SG suspension

I picked up a 2012 FLHX for demo a few weeks ago and was disappointed in the rear suspension. On the highway, the ride was great.

The back road trip with set my a$$ on fire - bottoming out and very firm.
The dealer is going to allow me to take it out again this weekend for a demo and pump up the shocks to try to improve the ride.

Does anyone have any inexpensive suspension suggestions for a 6'3" 255 lbs rider on this SG.

thanks

the SG shocks have 30% less travel than the touring shocks.

so harsh.

that is reality.

some riders are happier after getting aftermarket shocks, which can be a few to many hundreds $

I use SG shocks in town and around the State

when going on longer trips I put on the 13" shocks used on the ultra and other models.

the air shocks are very adjustable with a small pump ( never use a bicycle pump, it'll blow the seals out).

I find 7 PSI works well for me, solo.
235# with riding gear and maybe another 15 pounds of crap forgotten in the saddlebags

if the shocks are bottoming out ( but not topping out), add air.

and vice versa

7 psi? What year is your bike? '08 models recommend about 12-15 psi for that combo? In '09 they changed the systems and recommend about twice that psi for those specs.

I know for certain that if you are under pressure o nthese bikes, the ride is horrible. But be cautious to not overfill, you'll blow out the lines.

Same here.

OP if the adjustable shocks aren't pumped up just right these bikes will give you a WTF kinda ride...

When I picked up my FLTRX and rode home with my wife on the back I thought she was going to cry the bike was hitting so hard.

Stupid me didn't think to tell the sales guy to put some air in there for me...

Oh wait. The SOB shoulda done it for me!

We had a little talk were close friends now.....

for inexpensive, you could go with the 13'' touring shocks. a lot of people would trade you straight up for your 12''. only expense would be shipping. is that cheap enough?
