Default Is this my speed sensor?

My speedometer has been acting strangely and I researched the forums and found out I should remove and clean, or replace the speed sensor. The picture in the service manual and the parts manual doesn't look anything like what I see that is supposed to be the sensor located where the manuals shows. This is an 07 FLHRS. Can anyone tell me what this is and where the speed sensor is located? Is this my speed sensor?-speedsensor.jpg

That is not the speed sensor. That's the neutral indicator switch. The speed sensor is located at the rear of the transmission under the starter. It looks a lot like the crankshaft position sensor that is near the oil filter on the front of the engine.

Thanks for your response. The Manual shows the neutral indicator switch to be located on the other side. Do I have to remove the starter to get at the speed sensor?

Once you locate it and get it out it should look like an afro (for a lack of a better word). Just wipe it clean with a rag. I also like to use a small pen like magnet and get any other shavings that I can with it before putting the sensor back together.

Do you mean after putting the sensor back in or do I actually take it apart to clean it?

Well, I must be a real dumb a$$ because I don't see it in the same location as your picture shows it. I guess I will disconnect the battery and pull the starter/solenoid unless anyone can make another suggestion.
