Sounds to me like you have your heart set on the SG, so like was stated, hold off a month and see what deals come your way on a newer/new one!

When buying a bike it comes down to three things...what you WANT, what you are comfortable on and what kind of riding you are going to be doing the most of. If the what you buy doesn't answer those three questions for you, then it doesn't matter rather you spent $2,000 or $20,000!

Between those two, the EG would be my recommendation. The SG is priced too high. As has been said, if you really want a SG, you are better off buying new or being patient and looking for a better deal.

I bought a Street Glide and spent $ thousands making it Ultra, Bought an Ultra and spent $ hundreds making it more a Street Glide. I believe it is cheaper to take things off than put things on.

The Ultra rides and looks very much like the SG when the tour pack is removed and a nice profile seat. I did not like the ride of the low suspension on the SG. I actually like the look of the extra chrome guards on the Ultra, cruise control, comfy seat when I trip, CB, intercom, etc you get a lot of extra with the ultra. I forgot lowers are great in the winter and That SG shield sucks.

A convertible, dress to go, strip for show, best of both, Just my opinion.

Once you start using the tour pac, it never comes off

i have to say i agree i love the street glide look but I just couldn't get over how much everyone wants for a used street glide. I was able to find a standard that someone had put a tourpak on for 15500 with 5000 miles on it. IMHO if you are going to buy a used street glide i would spend an extra couple grand and get a brand new one. But that being said that sounds like a pretty good deal on the electra!

Like others have said, if you want the X, go for the new one.

I've been looking for a SG for a couple of months. Although HD depreciation is lower than about any other motor vehicle, I still hoped to find what I wanted on the late model used market and save some bucks. Ended up pulling the trigger this morning on a black '12 for $17,040.00. It has 6K miles, dealer service done at 1K and 5K. Mint condition but pretty light on the options, security but no ABS, cruise and a backrest with 2 point mount. I've ridden soft tails before this and now wish I had stepped up sooner. Heading south for the winter and can't wait.

Look at an 09 or later on the SG 's, new frame makes a difference, be patient if buying used, if new , think about renting a few then decide. Love my touring bike. Good luck.

Same with me. I spent a small fortune having the detechable tour pack bracket installed the day I bought my Ultra Limited. I liked the thought of changing the look and feel. I have never taken it off. I use it every time I get on the bike.

Wait to see what the deals are but I'd still get a new SG
