Default Cam questions

I have a 2013 CVO I'm looking at build options. I spend hours looking at cams and Dyno results.....
I decide that I might be interested in doing cams, the comitec .030 head gaskets, and port and polish the heads.
I talk to a builder and tell him what I'm thinking about doing, I tell him I'm looking at Woods TW-222's, Mackie 575's, and the Andrew 54's. I ask him to consider these and make any recommendations he might think would work for me.
I tell him I'm looking for improved performance, I do 2 up riding, hills, back roads, and am thinking I like low and mid range torque. but will do some highway riding but don't need to run 100mph all day.
He comes back talking about S&S 570's. He adds that we are going to have to deck the heads to bring the compression up to right below 10.
Is the 570's a good choice and should it run well on my bike ? I have power dual, monster rounds, and a SE Pro Tuner.
It seems to me by selecting a 570 he's creating a need for more work to make the 570's work well. Wouldn't a different cam choice be better or is this guy really smart

The 570s will make more power but at more rpm. I am happy with 54h cams in my 103. I would recommend a compression bump with all the cams listed, plus compression releases.

All depends on who you ask. Scott@hillside always recommends woods, kirby apathy@veetwin racing always recommends s&s, on and on and on, camshafts are like the great oil debate. Multiple opinions and turns out everyone's a pro, the only problem with that, it causes confusion,

Why bother pulling the 255s out for the 222's ?

If you are looking for proof always compare dyno charts. And don't just settle on one based on one chart. Odd are you can find at least 2 or 3 using the same parts. The most subjective part is when head work comes into play. Lots of good Porter's out there, even more not so good ones. First decide what you want to accomplish, then figure out what combination of parts will get you there....

much smoother and less heat. I had the Easy start S&S 583's put in my 11 Limited, (mistake letting my guy talk me into them as my style of riding isn't hard into the throttle to keep the rpm's up) and they performed great if you road the **** out of it... Called Mr. Wood and told him I wanted my bike to pull as soon as I let the clutch out here in the hills of NW Arkansas. I love the 222's and if you ride 2 up much at all then they are the deal. My last bike had 255's and they were fine but I like these cams much better.

honestly, if you trust the guy, go with it. cams are very subjective. you could spend all year listening to johnny neighbor's 'expert' opinion. just make a choice and roll.

and regarding builders, most are partial to one mfr. the trick is finding guys who have run multiple cams and have real world RIDING EXPERIENCE with them

I am having my SE255 cams pulled and TW222 cams installed.
Check out Fuelmoto dyno sheets
The 222 cam is a torque producer of 100ft/# + from about 2500rpm up through 4800 rpm, and not a slouch at 2000 rpm.
The SE cam not so much torque throughout that same range, and the 222 makes more hp.

From all the reading I've done the Tw-222 is my pick, but what do I know?

Good luck
