oil leak
i just installed a new starter on my 2007 flhtc and just noticed a puddle of oil on my tranny after driving it for about a hour. i wiped it up and drove it 30 miles and it was there again. does anybody know what could cause this to just start after replacing the starter? i checked the starterbolts and they are tight , so i am a little confused. i had no leaks before installing the starter so the first thing i did was change the o ring on the dip stick but it did not stop the leak. i cannot see any leaks while it is sitting still so it has to be leaking while i ride. captdan

I had a similar problem on my 2009 RKC after installing a HD 1.4kw chrome starter. It turned out that the bearing on the end of the starter clutch shaft did not have an oil seal on it. Turned out that none of the HD chrome starters had the seal. So the primary oil leaked into the starter assy and drained out onto the transmission. I replaced the starter clutch with one from All ***** which has the seal. That fixed the leak.
