Default Oil leak?????

I have a slight oil leak that has been giving me fits. The best i have come up with is oil leaking back through the starter. Has anyone ever experienced this and if so how did u fix it?

Are you sure. What year and model bike? It is very unlikely that that is where it is leaking from unless your starter motor is loose where it bolts to. That assembly fits throughan ear where just the jackshaft sticks out into the primary and there is a seal it goes through.

I have a 08 street bob. It is wet mainly on the bottom of the starter. I have changed the o-ring on the speedo sensor and on the starter housing that slides into the primary. The only other place it could be leaking is out of the main shaft seal or the starter. I have a couple guys that work on bikes that said it's not the main shaft seal when they looked at it. The guy who works at parts at hd dealer said he has heard of oil leaking back through the starter.

I am seeing oil mainly on bottom of starter. I also see it all around the speedo sensor over time. I use brake cleaner and spray it all over areas to clean it really well. I also rinse it with water really well. After it's all clean I take it out for ride then check and it starts being wet first on the bottom of starter.

Doesn't the oil vent tube come out around there, maybe the oil level is too high and pucking it out.
