Well and truly hacked off. Some one pulled out onto the road in front of me yesterday without the slightest of looks, she was never going to make the space she was aiming for and I was never going to get around her. Fortunately this was all in a retial park car parking area so
all took place at low speed, but the end result was my 4 week old bike ends up on the ground. All the damage is superficial, brake lever, mirror and exhaust all scratched, and brake pedal bent. Still went straight to the dealer who happens to be on that park and to replace all those items is going to cost almost Ł1000.00. The other drivers insurance will no doubt cover it but it's hacked me off all the same, and I guess it's a timely reminder that even at low speed any kind of a spill is going tonbe a costly one.
Yeah, that pretty much sucks. Had a lady munch mine when it was only 4 days old. The bike can be repaired and you are OK. The repairs appear to be pretty minor, so are you able make the repairs yourself and pocket some cash for the inconvenience?
Just be thankful you were not hurt and if you were looking at replacing/upgrading anything such as the exhaust now is the time since they are giving you insurance money.
Yeah the main thing is escaped without injury. And definately not worth replacing the stock pipe, so a set of V & H pipes seem like a possibly. Every cloud has a silver lining I guess.
I am so tired of this "I didn't see him" crap drivers always give for hitting a motorcyclist. The fact is that the driver did not look or is unable to drive. Had this been a child on a bicycle, what then?
Last week I had not one, but two drivers cut into my lane within 5 minutes of each other and before I could get out of town.
We need stiffer penalties for drivers that do this.

I couldn't agree more. I read an article in American Iron where one of the writers was on a rant along the exact same line. People can injure or kill a biker and get away with it. The laws around this are "Not Right"...
I have had a close call or two myself. May is Motorcycle awareness month in NJ and they keep running ads, but it doesn't seem to help. People are in their own world. On the phone, eating, music cranked, kids screaming all those distractions. I know that when I'm in a cage and I come upon a bike I try to give them a cushion. I'm always cognizant about the bikes. It doesn't help us when a biker gets hit and then we find out he was driving too aggressive for conditions (ie weaving through traffic, excessive speed, lane splitting, etc). We just had a driver arrested and charged in NJ because he was driving his Honda car too fast, decided he couldn't wait in traffic and decided to use the shoulder. As he approached the next exit he claims he never saw the motorcyclist who was legally entering the roadway. Luckily the cyclist is alive and the cage driver behind bars.
