Default Harley Baggers - World's most versatile bikes

I was out shooting pics of my Street Glide yesterday, and was trying to decide which configuration I wanted to shoot it in. I asked myself, which of the following accessories should I include in the pic: Should I put on the Tour Pak? Tall windshield? Smoked and low windshield? Sissy bar? Riders backrest? Mustang seat or long low stocker? Saddlebags on or off? Solo or two-up?

Finally I said the heck with it and I shot it in 3 different configurations (see pics below). It took me all of 5 minutes to completely transform the bike from a boulevard bomber to an awesome touring rig. Better yet, most of the changes were made without tools! Only the windshield and seat required the use of a screwdriver - even I can handle that.

I don't really have a point to this post other than to say that a Harley bagger has got to be one of the most versatile bikes ever made. I hear a lot of people (especially metric riders) raggin' on Harley's for their lack of technology, but even metric riders have to admit that the HD engineers have done a marvelous job of engineering versatility into the baggers. I've owned over 20 bikes, most of them metric, but far and away my HD baggers have been the most versatile. My moods change frequently - sometimes wanderlust hits me and I've just got to ride somewhere - anywhere, as long as it's at leasta state or twoaway. Other times I simply want to crank the tunes and cruise the city streets on a boulevard bomber. Sometimes I want something in between. 5 minutes and a screwdriver is all that it takes to match the bike to my mood. Gotta love those HD baggers! End of rant.

That bike definitely rocks. I don't even like spokes, but they sure look good on his ride. Gotta wonder about the stopping power though since he's one disc down in front (that's why it looks so good). A fully loaded bagger in touring configuration is heavy, and takes a long time to stop with three discs, let alone two. Maybe he's running a 6-piston single caliper up front? Beautiful ride though!

Beautiful photos- shows the versatility of the bagger. Too bad it's about 18 degrees in Chicago or I'd be out riding.
