Default lightweight battery

I think I need a new battery for my 09 SG w/ ~ 14k miles. How about switching to a lightweight lithium ion battery (right chemistry?). Are they reliable? Any good or bad experiences? Thanks

I recently bought one, but to get high performance from a compact battery, rather than reduced weight. I am converting my old bike which involves relocating the battery, so don't have much space in which to put it. I also have a big motor and need plenty of starting power.

For your bike I don't see any advantage to buying one. I have a Shorai and that needs a dedicated charger/tender, which involves further cost. Unless your bike is highly tuned and needs extra starting effort I suggest a conventional battery will be fine. You can probably buy a least two of them for the cost of a Shorai plus tender!
