anybody have their amp drain their battery down after the bike is shut off....i added a rf amp back in april and i believe it's draining my battery dead? any ideas, i need some help..
How old is the battery? Has the battery been tested? What year motorcycle?
To check for a battery drain or short disconnect the neg battery cable. Attach a test light from the neg cable to the neg post on the battery. On older non computer bikes you can use a regular test light. On newer computer bikes use a test light designed for it. If test light lights you have a short. If you think its from the amp disconnect it and test again. If light goes out you found your drain.
If you wired it passed the ignition switch it probably will. Put a meter across the power leads to it while your ignition is switched off. If you measure anything then rewire it so it can only come on with the ignition.
i took the fairing off tonight...light on the amp only comes on when the bike is turned on....light goes back off when the ignition switch is turned off....don't know what to do...anybody got some more ideas..
