With the weather getting colder (I'm in Canada) my chaps are not really cutting it.
Besides the fact they look goofy in my opinion, they don't really offer any protection where you likely will hit, your ***.
I have other types of riding pants but was thinking of the Fox creek leather over pant that goes on and off the same as chaps.
Anyone have these?
Look a t a place called stone lake leather works on line they are quite pricey but I was looking into getting a pair of their bib overalls they custom make them...I think about $350 us...but from what I've seen they may be worth it
stone lake has a booth in tomhawk wisconsin every year for the fall color ride, and they are busy with the weather getting colder. the bibs look very well made kinda basic with very heavy leather.

I ride down to 0C. Wear textile overpants with knee and hip armor. They are made of 500D Cordura with 2000D Cordura on the common strike points/road rash areas of knees and seat. Textile will be a lot more comfortable, flexable and warmer than leather. It also should offer more protection than the type of leather pants that come without armor due to the safety and protection the armor padding offers. There is a big difference in the abrasion resistance and cost of polyester, nylon and cordura. You get what you pay for. Most overpants unzip up the side of the legs so you can put them on standing next to your bike over your boots. Have crashed in pants similar to these and was uninjured. The pants and jacket were both a write off after sliding 60ft but no injuries and got to walk away uninjured. Unfortunately the bike was a write off too. Insurance paid to replace jacket, pants, helmet, gloves and bike.

Using Chaps just does not make sense to me. Especially in the rain or cold. More over chaps falls into the same catagory as open fingered gloves and tank tops in a slide.

exactly my thinking.
i do have Goretex cordura riding pants with armour from Klim for rain or if I am going all day and dont know what weather to expect, but I do prefer the feel of leather.

My thoughts as well. I bought some over pants way back when. I wanted the bibs, but they didn't have any with zippers up the side of the legs for easy on and off, so I settled for the overpants. I don't know what brand they are, made in Pakastan or somewhere, but they are nice and thick and work good for me. They look like leather blue jeans.
I have had a pair of leather overpants for over 20 years..I keep them held up with some heavy suspenders .A gerbing jacket liner, gloves, and a leather jacket and your good to go..I looked around on Ebay and found a link that maybe worth checking out..Send them an email or so maybe they have your size..Hein Gericke is some very nice stuff..http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hein-Gericke...item35c0e37f23
I have to agree with you on the goofy comment. I always seem to feel that way. But they do work and they do extend my riding season on both ends. I will likely be riding with them this weekend.
