It won't seem like a tractor once you've gotten used to it. My Ultra felt like a semi when I first got it, I was used to my old Triumph Bonneville and smaller bikes. But now, it feels pretty nimble.
You didn't mention what model you're riding, what is it?
JL
It's an EG with lowers and a tour pack for the wife.
I'm sure that I'll get the feel for it. When I first rode it home, from a stop, I kept trying to put my feet on the passanger floorboards ... Since then I have learned to sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.
I bought my Harley a year ago. Opened it up added a tuner, various other upgrades and 14K miles later its my second woman. I dont want to get off. When I go for a ride its usually a hundred miles before I even think about going home.

Nice ride, sounds like mine.
If you really want to gain some confidence at cornering and other low-speed maneuvers on the big bike, either take one of those advanced rider classes (where they run you through the cones on your own bike), or get the Motor Lessons self-study handbook from Harris Neil (motorlessons on this site) and work on the exercises. That helped me a lot.

That's what cost me my first wife. Threw my leg over the scooter and haven't seen her for 30 years!!!
The only known antidote is chrome, Crown Royal and a cigar! It may not stop you from buying stuff...but you'll enjoy looking at your ride a whole lot more!!

I have owned 2 dozen streetbikes, dirtbikes & quads, and 4 sandrails over my short 40 years of life. The last bike I had was an RT BMW. The only thing that I ever did to it was tires, oil and a ton of miles.
I bought my first Harley in September, about 1000 miles ago. The thing is heavy and slow - and it corners like a John Deere Tractor... BUT I LOVE IT!!! I can't stop buying stuff for it. I am seriously addicted it. I find myself talking to it and aways wiping it down. Am I effed-up or what?
