I havea RKC and I would like to use a handheld radio to communicate with fellow riders who have an ultra. I dont want anything to mount anything to the bike, more like put it in a vest pocket or jacket pocket. I can then hook up a headset to it for talking.

Walmart sells a portable walkie-talkie 40 channel cb with short atenna that comes witha car adaptor. You can put in your jacket pocket and it has an ear plug jack. It's about $89.00
Midland has a 40 channel CB that accepts a speaker mic. My buddy uses it and it does a passable job within 1 mile. The trick to getting more range is to get it away from your body. He puts his on the mirror stem with velcro, works much better than against his body.[8D]
I have a Chatterbox CB that you can hardmount but I keep it in my shirt pocket under my jacket. Short antenna that comes with it works fine. You can also mount a 48" antenna but the reception isn't that much better.
