Question Battery install

Anything other than just take the old battery out and put in the new one in? It is on an 09 Street Glide with Security system and i added the Radio Shack siren. Does anything have to be done pre install to security or the fob? Or do i just take one out then the new in and everything stays the same other than i have a new battery? LOL Any input appreciated

I just replaced mine last spring and the only thing I did before I disconnected the old battery was remove the main fuse.

Fully charge your new one off the bike first. I recently bought a new car battery, put it on a tender and was surprised how long it took to get to fully charged. Overnight should do it. Doing that is said to give the best service life.

Make sure you have the nylon strap that assists you in lifting the battery in the middle of the battery (bottom of tray) and the loose end where you can grab it after the battery is in the tray. I didn't the last time I installed my battery and had to remove some parts to get the battery out. That thing is heavy and there's no where to grab it and pull it straight up. At least I couldn't do it....

I could not get the battery out using the strap. Used two vise grips on the terminals, which worked great. Just do not short them to the frame or anything.

I replaced the Five year old battery on my Glide about a year ago now. It didn't last too long and found the two main causes were, Shelf life and charging before installing. They didn't charge it, nor recommend I did. They did warranty it. New one is as good as gold. I did put it on the charger, as it needed it.

Check your manual. You don't say what model bike you have, but with the security system and TBW, there is a definite order of steps you follow before you remove the battery and steps to get everything back to nominal after the new battery is installed.
