I tried beach bars then went to a mini ape of 8.5", probably would have gon to a 10" ape next as they seemed to sit quite well on a buddies RK Std. I have since gone to the dark side to a Sharknose and the bars it had OE fit fine.

Unless you're into "Apes" specifically for a look, Heritage bars have been the typical replacement for RK bars for quite a few years now.. FWIW.

6'1" 240# I have a 95 rk and went with Road King Highbars (reduced reach bars) part #55954-00.

Chrome Road KingŽ High Handlebar

Designed to provide extra comfort for the Road KingŽ rider, this chrome bar is 4-1/2 inches higher and 2 inches narrower than the stock handlebar found on '96-99 Road KingŽ models and 3-1/2 inches higher and 1-1/2 inches narrower than stock handlebar on '00-'01 Road KingŽ models. Many models require no additional cables or hoses for installation.

Thanks guys.... Im driving myself crazy trying to decide on bars.. ive been debating for months now... I hate the stock bars but dont know what to get. Im 6'2" and 235ish pounds. I have a mustang wide touring seat. I rode my buddys roadking in florida with 16 inch apes and my hands were just about a half inch above my shoulders.. so Im debating between carlini gangster apes, either 14 or 16 inches. But I dont know if apes are the way to go for long rides. This decision is really driving me nuts lol
