I am a slop tailer in need of your help.
I am looking at buying a Ultra Classic and have two that I am looking at:
1) 2008 Anniversary Edition. No mods save highway pegs. 23,000 miles. Price reduced to $15,900.
2) 2008 Merlot/Sunglow Red. No mods except some chrome trinkets. 17,000 miles for $15,500. This one is a consignment bike that has recently dropped $500 off the asking price.
I am favoring the Anniversary Edition as i like to look and would add the pegs anyway.
What I need help with is the prices. I have just started shopping and need some guidance. Are these prices ball park? They seem a little high to me. What should I offer and expect to pay?
I think both prices are a tad high considering the mileage.
I would suggest a search on EBay in order to get some competitive pricing on the 2008 Ultras. Armed with this info, begin negotiations with the owners of the two bikes you're interested in. If they don't budge - walk.
Go with the merlot. The anniversary bikes never hold their value and the Merlot has many less miles. Offer $14K and meet them in the middle somewhere...remember it's still a buyers market!
Picked up an 08 Ultra with 12k miles and some chrome goodies back in March for $14k. Found it thru Ebay. Have seen some 08's with around 20K miles selling for $12-$13k on Ebay lately.
