I have a JS jack and I always raise it to the top position and lock it down on the safety latches and leave it all winter. Have done this for four years on two different bikes with no problems.

I use my Pitbull for winter storage, I use the latches on the second set of catches, so about half way up. Right now I have it all the way up on the last set cause I am working on it. I really don't think it matters, its stable on any of the settings.

I have a pit bull, the guy who sold it to me told me the highest point is the best for storage or working on the bike because the wt of the bike is straight down vs on a angle. Made sense to me.

Be Safe JIM

I don't! Bike will be fine on it's tyres over winter, especially if it is indoors.

Not according to what I have read in several publications. Claims were the TIRES (American for tyres) get flat spots. That being said, as long as the bike is raised. But I have no personal experience as I ride my bike year round. I think the latest HOG magazine may have a write up on this but could have been one of my other magazines.

Flat spots on tires used to be a problem back in the day but due to the better quality of rubber being used today and tires innovation techniques, flat spots are not as common for short (6 months tops) of storage. That's not to say that if you have a jack, J&S here, it never hurts to prop it up for your winter storage. I go to the top setting as well on the jack. Flat spots are also a concern in storage of cars in the winter but with the radial tires that are out nowadays, flat spots are nearly impossible. Just my 2 cents.

Are you saying the very highest point? Tires off the ground?
