Default Need Help - Harley Wheels

I would like to upgrade my whells on my 2001 FLHTC (Electra Glide. I have the old Wagon Wheels looking mags and would like to upgrade to some stock later model wheels. See picture. Does any know if these would fit?

Thanks

That's a 2010 and up 18" street glide wheel. Excellent choice and it will bolt right up to the 01 fork legs.

You'll need the right axle and spacers and non abs bearing on the left side. Swap your rotors to the newer wheel and put it on.

2008-up use a different size axle and spacers depending on abs bearing or not.

It would be pretty simple to just find a used 08-up axle and spacers and be done with it.

Here's a link for a wheel fitment chart

http://www.hdwheels.com/Product.htm

It looks like the front is not a problem but the frame change in 2009 allowed for a 5.5 wide rear wheel where you can only go 4.25 wide on a 2001 without mods.

They have the rear in this model wheel, part no. 41288-06A on the HD website but it shows for 02 through 08, not sure what difference there is from 2001 to 2002.

Those old wagon wheels look pretty good all reworked and chromed out from Classic
Components in SoCal. Did mine on my last RK and my friend got some exchange from
them very reasonable. Whole different look believe it or not.

I have 2005 SG wheels on my 99 UC. Had a machinist do all the spacers & converted them over to the 3/4" on the 99's. You have 1" axles so that will help.

Are you in the market to purchase some updated stock wheels or do you already have a set? Just fyi if you're interested, I have takeoffs from my 09 SG. Front/rear wheels and tires, rotors and pulley for sale. Tires are in excellent condition 98% tread and so are the wheels. Thanks.

Default Wheel questions

Are you looking to do a nice clean chrome billet wheel or maybe a nice spoke set?

It all depends on what year the wheels have come off of. Are you doing a front and rear or just a front? The bearings are different sizes in 2001 and 2002 touring rear wheels. In 2008 the bearing size changed to 25mm front and rear. You might be able to change the bearings but a rear wheel from 2009 and up will not fit your 2001 as it is too wide. If you are able to change the bearings you may have to have some axle spacers made as the width of all of these bearings is not the same.

It can be done but I feel that it is more hassle than it is worth to put a stock wheel of another year bike on yours, however you may feel differently.
