What's with you Florida types.....too much sun, heat or citric acid, or is it the salt spray in your lungs ? Probably just closer to the Bermuda triangle.
Nah, we buy 'em 'cause we got a 12 month riding season........
The last rumor in 09 was no Road Glides for 10. It was correct. They all became RG Customs! RGC's have gained sales every year. The RGC may be ending in 13 but to be replaced by the RGC shower head.
Dealers also said the XR1200 was doomed a couple years ago. Then out came the XR1200X. It is gone now though.
I am not concerned. I bought myself a life time supply this year. A 12 black denim RGC and the 12 maple/black RGC CVO.
I have 6K on each this year and If I repeat that each year they should more than outlast me at 72 yoa.
I happened to be at my dealer yesterday and he brought up a vicious rumor that this is the final year for the FLTR.
If true, what in the world are they thinking???
I know it doesn't sell in the numbers that the Street Glide does but it still sells (at least I think so).
I just hate to see my favorite style go away.
Joe
Probably the same guy that said all Harleys would be water cooled this year. These guys at the dealerships don't have anymore knowledge than you and i when it comes to what's in the works at HD HQ. That said, I would bet my next pay check that he's wrong. If anything, i think the RG has gained more popularity in the last few years.

I bought one, they don't ride better, I went back to the Ultra. Three other riders I know did the same thing.
If you are moving from a bike with no fairing or no windshield they are fine.
But if you move off a batwinged bike with lowers, you will move back in about six months. That's how long it usually takes to admit you made a mistake.
I have owned several batwing bikes on the new and old frame and two earlier frame Road Glides. The RG on the new frame is by far the best handling and most comfortable and most fun bike I have ever rode. I went back to it because of post neck surgery discomfort with my SG. Could not cure the buffeting. After about an hour I would be in pain. Sold the SG and just bought a RG Ultra. All day in the saddle yesterday and I felt great afterwards. And the fact that I could throw it into turns and sweepers 20mph faster than I could on any batwing bike is icing on the cake. Best damn mistake I have ever made.
