I'll remember you if I need it.

Feeling a lot better. Staying indoors as much as possible. The cold air hurt the nose/breathing. Thanks for checking.

No problem on the install. This seems pretty simple. I think I will just go with what gabhart found.

Thanks everyone for the info. I'll start searching around to see who has what I am looking for. Will post when I do.
Hey bro, feeling better today....??? Hope your on the mend.

Now, let me know how the door opener went, so when I come to your house for the cam install we can knock that out to.....LOL [sm=joke.gif]

On a more serious note: I see more& more folks from the Northern Va. area, if you ever need a tow service, (hopefully not) don't hesitate to call me @ Willow Spring Towing,.......Rob.

You don't need a momentary switch - if fact you don't need an addtional switch of any kind - just wire it into your high beam switch. The circuitry in the remote sends one signal per press of the button there is no voltage draw if you keep the button pressed the little computer board in the remote acts as a momentary switch. Try this as an experiment. As you leave your house press & hold the remote button down your door will close normally. Keep it held down and drive around the block (in your cage) when you come back to your house (with the button still depressed) the door won't open unless you release the button & press it again. I wired mine near the head light using a small electric tie to keep the button pressed. You could also solder a jumper onto the board to accomplish the same thing. Very easy and very inexpensive mod.

I thought that what you are saying was due to a rotating code that all newer openers use for security reasons. This is directly from Genie's website: "...rolling code technology provides state-of-the-art security for your home by automatically changing your access code every time you push the remote control button. This prevents an unauthorized person from capturing the access code to your opener system and gaining entry to your garage."

So I would think you would want a momentary switch or a switch you would be willing to turn "off" after the door opens or closes to facilitate the rolling code.

This is by no means a switch identical to stock, but it works:

I did the same mod on my bike. I mounted the opener under my seat and used the acc switch to power it. The plug to the acc switch is already under the seat. All you need are some short pieces of wire. I flip my acc switch on before I hit the driveway and the door opens before I get to it. Then I just flip the switch off. I rapped the opener with some heavy self stick canvas and then velcroed it to the fender. It works great and its water-proof.

In response to gabhart - I see your point on the rolling code but all you have to do is flick the high beam on then off.
