Default Hex key to fit Sprocket nut.

Hello everybody!
A friend has a 2003 Electra Glide Standard, and has a problem with the "compensator system". He needs a key for the bolt; he say to me it measures near 39 mm. Well, we are spaniards and living in Spain of course, we are not using the "inch standars in tool". It happens that in metric there is not a key to fit 39 mm, and I suppose 39 mm is the 1-17/32", but I do nor found a key with that measure.
Maybe it was mistaken perhaps?
If anybody know I tanks for information.

Hi from the UK and I sympathise with your non-metric problems. One day the USA will catch up with the rest of us! This thread covers the size you need, which is 1 1/2" or 1.5 inches. In my experience of working on Harleys, British and metric bikes over the years, it is wise to use the correct size of tool.

There is not a metric equivalent of 1 1/2". If you get stuck finding the correct size, try UK Ebay, but email them for postage to Spain first. Best of luck!

Hi Grbrown!, thanks, I think my friend wrong measuring the nut.
When you begun to ride I almost don't know existing bikes!,,, in 1970 I felt in love for Electra Glide 1200!!!,,, and triumph bonevile 650,,,, and Norton Comando, Laverda, Mv Agusta, Guzzi,,, I knew all about brands and models,,, but I bought The first & the one bike in October 2006, just 54 years old,,,in April 2008 I got the license to drive,,, My God!!!
Now, 124.000 km,,, plenty of amazing ride.
I like mechanic too and recently I am repaired the Mainshat Bearing by myself.
I must to learn the way to post pics here to show if somebody need helping.
Thanks again!

Hi Xavier, I started riding in the 60s, so have ridden or owned many of those bikes. A friend still has a 1970s MV Augusta 750, he bought new! I was a BSA fan and bought a new 1971 Rocket 3. Great times! Best of luck fixing your Harley. My Glide is in pieces at present, with all the bodywork at the paint shop.

No, just metric, like the rest of the World! I love this sort of stuff. Back in 1975 the US Government signed off a law to go metric. They just forgot to say when!

I still have my Whitworth and other British tools, for my early bikes. Back in the 60s we started to convert to US thread sizes, so many of the tools I use on my Harleys are 40 years old. Then the World went metric, so I have a third set of tools.....

When I finished school in the 70's, we were given a choice to learn "the metric system" and we all chose no. I then went to electronics school and metrics is how we learned all of our math. It is a simpler system being base 10, but, having SAE driven in since childhood, I prefer good ole SAE. It is frustrating to find both on our bikes, and GM vehicles, and whatever else have you.......

I know my 3 kids were taught SAE having graduated in the late 90's-early 2K (lots of fractions home work) but were perhaps taught metric as well.
