Wrist Pin Bushing
OK I finally got tired of the ticking sound so I took it apart, 98 Electra Gluide 1340, what I found is the rear wrist pin was very worn and had a crack on it, so I called Harley, they only have oversize and dont have a stock size and no listing. So I got what they have in stock and there is no way this is going to fit the rod without removing the rods and having them machined. There is to much of a difference on the size. Were can I purchase new bushing standard size? I have eveything else to rebuild this top end but that and need them asap.
Thanks

How about J&P Cycles P/N 430-886 Phone no 800-397-4844 (wrist pin ) Bushings P/N 432-570 If you need the tool P/N 910-157 ( bushing tool) Jim's sells a wrist pin reamer Custom chrome P/N 22320 ( big $'s ) Good luck
Well, they're the exact same bushing from 1936 thru 1999 so anywhere that can/will order parts should be able to get them for you. Try a different dealer if you have to, I'm guessing that's all that one had in stock? (oversize)
I assume you know that you'll need a press tool (store-bought or home made) to get the bushings out and back in, and you'll have to have a special reamer to re-size them after you get them in...
I just checked the book and sure enough, HD doesn't offer a std. bushing. WTF?

Well, if you have bought an oversize wrist pin, you can ream the bushing to fit, but then it also wont fit thru the piston. Thats why oversize pins aren't usually a good idea. Typically, on rebuilds I have done, if I found a sloppy fit there I would just do a top end with new pistons and wrist pins. Many times a new wrist pin will tighten up just enough. But if the bushing is worn, you need the special tools to install a new bushing and then ream it to fit so that the standard size wrist pin will work. Alot of times either dealers or indys wont have a problem if you haul the bike there for them to install and ream the bushing.
