I have a 1997 Ultra Classic. Its been a good bike and has served me well. I have been thinking about giving it a fresh coat of paint and getting rid of the factory wheels. I really prefer a spoke wheel over the mags and was wondering if there was a factory wheel that would work well on it?
I know harley made spoke wheels for the evo touring bikes, I just dont know part numbers off hand. If it helps, any spoke wheel from 84-00 touring bike should work, they all had 3/4" axle front ends.
have you ever owned spoke wheels? Little more effort required to clean and polish, they are high maintenance if you have added torque, and they require a tube so your plug a flat and go doesn't work anymore.
I purchased my '03 with spokes as an option and really like the look, besides I really didn't like the gold wheels for '03. The chrome finish on the spokes began to take on surface imperfections early on so I purchased another set of new take offs. My EG Classic had chrome rims and centers for the front and chrom rim and natural center on the rear. The Ultra Classic take-offs i purchased had chrome rims & centers front and rear. I added torque and HP and the next thing I notice is constantly loosening spokes. had to ride it home once with a wobbly rear wheel so purchased a set of cast wheels to replace the chrome spokes.
I have had all types of wheels over the years. The cleaning has been my main concern. I have been considering having my wheels chromed. I need to dress up the bike a little.
