Default Spoke Wheels

Guys,
Does anyone know if chrome spoke wheels are worth it? I hear they are hell to clean, and need to be adjusted. I'm looking at replacing my cast wheels on my 2005 FXD. And does anyone know if a 21" Spoked Wheel from a Sporter 1200 Custom will fit my Dyna?

Thanks,

I have a question about the spoke wheels that I've been meaning to ask...and I figure this thread might work...
I've noticed that in some write-ups, reviews, HD catalogs, etc etc, that they've mentioned that there are chrome spoke wheels available for my wide glide as an option. Maybe I'm an idiot here...but my stock wheels are spokes, and they most certainly look chrome to me. Is there an upgraded lace wheel available, and what is the difference between the two.
I've been wondering about this for a while now. And quite frankly...I paid top dollar for my WG, and it had quite a bit of chrome already on the front end (the package), including wheel spacers, fork sliders, etc. How would I know if I already have this option installed?
Does anyone know anything about this. Replies are appreciated.

Todd

I love spoke wheels, almost forsaking all others. Definitely worth whatever extra effort may be involved.

Verniculum, What you're hearing about is the chrome profile wheel option, which is $275 on a new bike. Off top of my head, you get a smoother rim with more exposed chrome. Pretty subtle difference. Stands out fairly well in person though.

Factory laced wheel:

Thanks Craig...that's what I was talking about. It must be subtle...cause there certainly seems to be quite a bit of chrome on my wheels...matter of fact...they pretty much are completely chrome

The profile laced look much better IMO. The rim is just smooth all the way where it meets the tire, there is no lip. Just seems to "flow" better.

Personally, I don't like a laced/spoked wheel. The biggest thing is that it's difficult to repair a flat on the side of the road. On my '97 WG, I switched over to billit wheels. I specifically chose the Superglide as a replacement because it had a cast wheel.

Sorry..gotta disagree..with your particular taste in wheels anyway..I think a laced wheel is a much better looking classic style...and in most cases looks better. I will agree, though, that they are a bitch if you get a flat. I bought some slime for tubes. Don't know if that stuff works. Been looking for a better option (other than switching to billet)

Anyone have pics of chrome profile vs stock on a bike?
Thanks.
