removing CA emissions equipment from a 2011 RKC?
On my Buell, I think it was just a carbon canister for collecting fuel tank vapors and routing them to the intake - not really a big deal and although easy to remove (and desirable because it was so promonent and ugly) it didn't really affect performance or operation in any way.
Is it the same deal with the 103"? I read that there may or may not be a different ECU map as well as different cams - I believe the map more than the cams, but I was hoping someone would have a difinitive answer. I'll eventually get a stage 1 kit, which will take care of any ECU differences, but is the extra $200 just for that carbon canister to collect tank vapors? I was just wondering if it was something quick and cheap and run the bike less lean until I get the stage 1.
I HAVE noticed that my bike runs MUCH better on non-California gas. In retrospect, the bike ran like ***** in CA...I just had nothing to compare to...and I was using "good" gas too.

All have the Catalytic Converter in the exhaust system.
I have found the only thing that is different is the closed fuel system with the carbon tank and the
CARB "California Emission" Label.
And as far as the California "Low Emission" gas is concerned, I found that all automobile gas stations in CA contain Ethanol.
Plus when I go back home, the octane is 93 for Premium fuel. I found most here in CA is 91. (I hate corn gas)

Well the evap tank on touring bikes doesn't stick out into the wind or look like it was attached after the fact with some duct tape so I'm not that worried about it - in fact, some people have said that bikes without it can smell up your garage under the right conditions so I'm fine with leaving it on my RKC - guess I'll just take care of any ECU differences when I get my stage 1.
