Default A big Clunk

I hear a loud clunk when i hit a large bump. It sounds like it's coming from the rear. I have a 2" lowering kit install on my flhtc. You think this may be causing this?

Thanks

..umm..yes...2 inches lower on a Touring bike will definitely make some noises going over "large bumps".....not a good choice for suspension....

Lowering a bike 2" does not give you much shock absorptive action before bottoming out. Don't know what kind of shocks you run, but if they are the stock shocks, good luck.

Another thing to look at is your jiffy stand rubber bumper. Is it still there? If not, the metal kickstand could be knocking on the frame when you go over bumps.

I had my '03 FLHTC lowered 2" and it didn't present any problems. Occasionally when riding 2 up, the tire would hit the fender on a really bad bump.

I had the same problem after lowering mine too. I'm 270 and I had to adjust my preload as well as raise it an inch. The swingarm was bottoming out. Do you feel it right under your seat? If so, that's the problem.

take the time now to drop the tire and inspect for damage.

start with the shocks and mounting hardware, continue through the inner fender and swingarm

if the rear is banging without the cushioning effect of suspension, all manner of things could break

+1 on dropping the rear wheel. If you are making contact on the inside of the rear fender beware, ALL of the rear lighting wiring is routed up along the inside. It wouldn't take much before you rub through it and lose all of your rear lighting, and that is not a pretty thought.

I have 11" Bitchin Bagger Drop shocks . They are stock air shocks cut down 2".
With them there is no danger of them bottoming out on the fender like you would with lowering blocks as there is a stop in the shock .

I run about 20 to 30lb air depending on the load and seldom bottom out on the stop ..

The bike handles great.
