In my new 2012 ultra I noticed these square metallic things glued to the front wheel.
I think they are balancing weights. Never saw them in my previous Ultra. I wonder why?
But my concern is that a couple came off. Why something that important would come off? Do I need to re glue them? Otherwise, Merry xmass to all
Very common to have wheel weights & sometimes they do come off either from an unclean surface or the glue isnt that good to start with & can be blown off with with a high pressure washer. Check & see if the squares are 1/4 or 1/2 ounce & replace the two. No big deal...
You've got a new bike. Make sure one of those damn things didn't come flying up and dent your fender on the INSIDE! Happened to mine. Dealer gets to look at it in the spring and figure out what they're gonna do about fixing it.
Besides the reasons already stated for the weights coming off... I have found that the centrifugal force plays havoc with any weight that is not applied to the surface of the wheel that is normal to the wheel/tire. If there is a string of weights going across the wheel those weights that start to wrap around, off the centerline and no longer normal to the wheel/tire, will likely fail in time.
It is preferable to spread the weights circumferentially around the wheel when necessary, rather than to string them across, thereby keeping the weights applied to the normal portion of the wheel. But nobody does this unless you balance your own.

I read about that happening so when I got my 2011 so I took all of them off and used Dyna beads to balance the wheels instead. Was a simple project using a lift to take the weight off the tires. so far so good in 10K miles. ceramic beads are supposed to be better than dynabeads.
Had three front wheel weights come off and put three nice dings on my CVO fender. The motor company had to get me a new CVO fender under warranty, after they first argued about it!!
I never use high pressure to wash the Roadking, just a wash MIT and suds and normal
hose pressure to rinse.
Okay, last year I had a front and a rear wheel weight come off whilst washing the bike, looked at the ground
And said WTF? Cheap *** wheel weights! They were 3 grams each, the HD dealer did not have them and have me 7 gram weights. I said screw it, and I just ride it and it is fine.
I just don't like the fact that the weights feel off the wheel in the drive way....
Then near the end of the season, I was getting fuel and I was shocked to see the wind screen fasteners loose on both sides, which I was able to procure a wrench to tighten them up..... Gads sakes, nylock nuts would be nice there.

We have the same bike. Well, maybe a different color as I don't see a pix of yours. So far my local dealer has been very good to me on what little warranty work I've needed done. We were up there doing some window shopping to give the wife ideas for me and I mentioned it to the service writer. He gave me the "shouldn't be a problem" answer. I need to drop those guys some pizzas one of these days.
