I put V&H true duals on my bike last year. I did it not for more power, but to get rid of the cat. I had the dealer do it and they said that it would not effect the warranty at all.

I agree. I don't get it either. If you are upgrading to a Stage 1 with a True Dual exhaust from a stock setup, you are gaining performance in both torque and horsepower. Granted, a good 2-1 or a 2-1-2 setup can gain additional performance in most cases, but I don't believe you are "losing" any performance at all with duals vs stock. Plus they look AND sound way cool!!
Baggers were meant to have duals! End of story!!


............or probably not..........

Though I don't have the true duals I have Freedom Preformance Independant Longs on my heritage and they build a solid exhaust. The fit and finish are awesome and I would not think twice about getting another system from them.

I have freeedom performance outlaws true duals, they sounds awesome nice deep and low in chrome, I am looking to sell or trade for the same ones or MGS true duals in Black. I am blacking my bike out this winter.

Default Bottom end power - True Duals

True Duals are said to knock a hole in the bottom end and I understand the science of how 2-1 or 2-1-2's work. However my real world experience was interesting (to me anyway). The attached dyno runs for my RKC tell the story; at the time it was 96" and had a Woods 6-6 and TD's just installed with a canned map from Fuel Moto (and please don't get me wrong - I have the highest regard for those guys and went and bought their 107" kit the following year - I have no respect for canned maps though, they are only good enough to get you to a dyno in my view) and didn't seem to be doing very well so onto the dyno it went. The lower curves on each chart represent the "before" story - i.e. the canned map. Sure enough a massive hole in the curves below 2750 and all the way through the rev band really - it rode as ragged as it looked - the AFR's looked scary too. The upper curves show how the dyno guys (who tune endurance race engines for a living by the way) smoothed out the big hole down low (extra 16 lbs) and mostly filled the depression through the whole middle of the curve, there's a tiny dip left down low after their work which was not possible to detect on the road although the mid range still needed sorting out a bit more. This thing would now leave an identical RKC (with a Thunderheader and canned map though) for dead.

So TD's do some strange things to power curves which can be addressed with a decent dyno tune and whilst a well set up 2-1 might work better it will not be a huge difference. Also a 107" kit seems to help even more - LOL

rhinehart true duals on my 03 electra glide. going the ear plug route for the highway this year. some say you can hear the radio with them. we'll see. nice around town though

hey guys, i have been riding about 3 yrs now, started on a Honda VTX 1300s and this past summer got a 2009 Ultra classic, love the thing, only issue it has a cat converter.

previous owner installed V&H twin slash ovals and V&H fuelpac, i bought a set of V&H true dual pipes so i could get rid of cat
after i ordered the pipes i came to the conclusion the twin slash ovals are too loud, sound awesome but give me a headache even w/ earplugs.

any suggestions for new slip ons that give a nice sound w/ td's just not so loud, V&H says w/ the TD's and TW slh ovals i will be at about 102db's, stock hd about 80db's i'd like to be in the middle.

this is a great site, thanks in advance, i know some of you guys can help

Have you asked V&H if they offer a "quieter" baffle for the twin slash ovals? I can't yet tell you from experience, but from what I have gathered reading multiple posts on the subject, the larger diameter of the slip-ons tend to offer a "deeper" exhaust note and not quite as loud.
