Default Supertrapp 4" Stout Installation

After being sick for the last two weeks I finally felt good enough to put a new set of Supertrapp 4" Stout's (140-65224) on my '12 SG. Bike has about 1,600 miles on it, and I'd previously installed a set of Nightrider FL-XIED-10's. After looking I think I'm going to put the SE Stage 1 AC on it, have the dealer to the Stage 1 map and call it a day.

The Supertrapp installation went much smoother than expected, other than for operator error. Old pipes came off slick as can be. I'd read as many threads as I could, followed all the advice I could find, and it was a piece of cake to get them off with only 1,600 miles. I was so paranoid about oils on the pipes I wore gloves when handling/installing the new units. I'd started the bike for a minute before I got started, and when I pulled the old pipes off I did find a bit of water inside the header pipe. Assuming this is normal?

My only snafu was that I was using a torque wrench on the exhaust clamp, and in translation from the instructions to the wrench setting I went from an instructed 19 Ft-Lbs to 29 Ft-Lbs. Seemed to be getting a bit tight so I went and double checked and I found my mistake. I loosed the clamp, reset the wrench, retightened everything and all seemed to be good. When I got everything buttoned up I wiped and wiped the pipes with alcohol to remove any oils before I started it up.

Started it up, sounded great. Very deep rumble compared to stock, and you could feel it shaking your core from several feet away, something the stock pipes never did. The only thing that bothered me a bit was that I noticed water dripping out of the joint between the header pipe and the muffler on the left side. Seems if it was sealed it wouldn't leak. I couldn't hear an exhaust leak, but if water is coming out . . . . that coincedentily was the same side that I may have over-torqued the clamp and had to undo/redo to get it right. Lots of condensation coming out of the pipes as it idled after starting it. Short ride, all sounded good. Not too loud at all on the bike, but a definate bark when you open it up. That little job wore me out so it's time to put it away, but so far it seems just fine. First time to swap my exhaust, and as I've found with other things, it turns out to be a bit easier once I actually do it.

Comments, things to watch for? If I'm adventurous I may try to install the A/C later this week.

Sounds like your doing just fine. The condensation caused by the left pipe usually shoots the water right out the back and doesnt usually drip from the joint. Put a bright flashlight up the pipe and see if it accentuates the joint,if you can see light coming through you will need to either address it or let it ride as its shouldnt hurt anything.....enjoy.

Sounds like you did good. You should be able to do a lot of stuff mechanically on the bike. It is just getting over the initial hesitance.
