Default Slipstream passenger board insert install problem

I haul concrete during construction season up here so I'm lucky if I even get to ride during the summer. Working on the bike is saved for winter. Decided to add some do dads and wa wa's on my bike this week. Got triple black chrome plated muffler bearings to keep her sounding good and added tinted windshield washer fluid for the days I had to ride into the sun early am's. Figured when I had to ride into the sun I could just spray some on and go like hell. After doing that I added most of the slipstream collection to the ride. Everything went as smooth as the muffler bearings until I got to the passenger board inserts. Popped the old ones out, put some of the tinted washer fluid on the **** and tabs and tried (!!!!!!) to put the new inserts in.......................................the section with the three tabs won't go in. 225# jumping on them no luck. Rubber mallet with alot of french didn't help either. Looking at the old vs new, the new insert tabs seem to be alot larger...............garage is only about 50 degrees but I shoved the inserts in front of the torpedo for a few minutes.......they were toasty. Any other suggestions??

Today I put on the Slipstream rider and passenger inserts and wanted to pass on a tip i used to get mine on lickity split fast! I used the recommended dishwashing soap on the nipples and for the passenger inserts i put the two pins holding the pan on more towards the inside of the pan with less visible on the outside. I then started with the front (chrome portion) and inserted the tip into the hole using pressure and working towards the rear. popped right in and then pulled the two front nipples through the hole. Took about 15 minutes to figure it out but the other side went on in less than 1 minute. Hope this makes since to those that may have this issue going forward.
