Bring a hat, lots of water, and snacks if you go to the Pentagon. You might be there 2 to 4 hrs. Very few vendors or things to do, so the lines are very long.

From a locals perspective, I have done the Ride for 10 years consecutive now and have learned some lessons.

1st, while advertised the Pentagon parking lot doesn't open til 8, don't believe it. I go direct to the Pentagon parking lot and am there by 6 am. Never waited longer than an hour for kickstand up by doing that once they start rolling out at noon. If you arrive any later than 8, you will most likely not even begin moving until close to 2pm or after, unless you are with one of the groups that rolls out before the rest of us.

2nd, as others have said, for the time in the lot, I bring a quantity of my own beverages and then only have to buy food. Also bring blanket or similar to sit on and stake out a place under a tree if sunny. It can get brutally hot in that parking lot and shaded cover goes fast.

Best of luck on the ride across I'll bet it will be great.

What ShoreRider said. You can also arrive at the Pentagon that morning, stay a bit, then leave and head downtown prior to noon. I avoid the Pentagon and go straight into DC, park my bike and visit with friends.
