EG Sidestand Question?
Thought I would ask before I tore it apart.
Thanks in advance!

if so, you can bend the jiffy,
heat it cherry red, bend it. spray it with new black paint

Sorry about that - I should have been more clear with my question.
When I kick the stand out and set the bike on it. The "lock" tab locks but the stand kicks out less than 90 degrees, about 80 degree (from the rear of the bike).
Maybe I am accustom to the way a dirt bike or other street bikes sidestands are. They usually point towards the front of the bike when down. Mine points towards the rear a bit. Almost as if the bike has rolled forward while on the stand.
Since it cant be adjusted, I guess I can pull it off and run a bead down the tab to tighten up the variance between the tab and channel.
I hope this explains my scenario a little more clearly.
Oh, I have another question while we're on topic. Why are they called a "Jiffy" stand? Is it because a guy named Jiffy came up with the idea/design, or perhaps it's because it's a locking stand?

the original stand deign was a flattened " U" shape bolted to the rear of the bike near the rear axle.
this U extended to the rear and was clipped to the rear fender.
when stopped, the rider would balance the bike and move to the rear...with one foot kicking the stand down from it's clip, and with both hands pulling ( lifting) the rear of the bike up onto the stand until it went over center and locked.
um, so the jiffy is a good idea.
until recently, the "swingarm" was always referred to as a "rear fork"
milwaukee-beer...I guess.
here's a pic of my '53- the stand can be see underneath the brightwork bumper- the 2 ribbed flatstock pieces, and the horizontal bar stock
you can also make out the clips which hole it in place.
i don't use this feature often ( but handy if changing a tire...that is why the fenders were hinged)

the package rack on these bikes was an option- imagine lifting with out it!, you'd have to grab the fender edges ( and mine has bags in the way.
my rack is identical to the H-D ( and Indian) but mine is a "National"- there is no record of the original owner adding it- he kept notes on everything, so it "may" have been supplied by HD if they were short on inventory
Just guessing from my living room that the stand on my 1995 FLHTC went to about 135ş
and the stand on my 2009 FLHTC goes to maybe 120ş.
but it is certainly forward of 90ş.
mine is down an inch in the rear using street glide shocks.
but it very stable when parked, I do always leave it in gear when parked.
in my garage I have a wedge under the jiffy to make the bike stand up straighter as it is crowded with 5 bikes in there...
