Same story here on my 09. The parts department sent me home with a hole new set of hardware after i showed them the problem. It was a little better on the second ground. Im still planning in milling down the spacers.

Some of the sideplates on the detatchable sissy bars were welded on crooked, it's very easy to spot...I know; it's that way on mine & some others I checked in the showroom. Just bent it slightly & fits perfect now.

I had the same problem with mine last week. I had to spread the mounting points apart it get it to fit. I was a little disappointed, given that you spend nearly 500 bucks one would think that it would work with out being forced. However, like other say at least it doesnt rattle.
