Default Problem with Detachable Sissy bar and Dock lining up

Hello everyone!
I finally caved and bought a detachable sissy bar so my female acquaintance can join me without falling off, and attempted to install it yesterday. No biggie... I did it no prob on my sportster….
After taking the bags off and getting the bracket on with very little difficulty, it was just a matter of snapping the sissy bar right on. Not the case! The sissy bar would not line up with the bracket! Either the sissy bar is to narrow or the bracket is too wide. I tried removing a washer I thought would be useless on both sides and its still just a little off…
Has anyone else come across this situation? I did do a search and didn’t come up with anything that was quit the same situation.

Thanks for the help!

I just got done dealing with the same issue. 13 street glide also. Long story short HD changed the mount so it fits real tight. They claim they changed it to eliminate a rattle. I went round and round with them, but no help. My dealer machined down the docking bushing, and it fits real nice now.

No experience on the same bike but had one on my last bike, a Heritage. It was always tough to get on, so tough I removed my bags in order to get leverage on it but had QD mounts on saddlebags. Maybe not the same but on mine I would spread the front to fit it on first then rotate it down and spread the back. I think the last post is a good idea though as long as you don't take off to much material.

with mine, I had to spead the mounts on the backrest. A liitle tough, but it bends.

Another question. How does the back pad attach to the sissy bar? Im looking at the sissy bar and I dont see how in the world it attaches, even with the triangle looking thing that comes with it!

2013 here dealt with the same thing in OCT. I was swearing like a sob trying to force it on. Never had any issues with the detach on my dyna. I am glad to see I was ant the only one with this issue.
