Default Install for BAL lights

For all of you who have installed the BAL brake light was it easy to install? Did you have to remove anything other than the light itself? How do you change to all the different mode settings and is this easy to do? Thinking about getting one for my 2009 Ultra Classic. Thanks

The hardest part was using the magnet to pick your settings, and that was not hard at all. Pure plug and play.

plug and play all the way. Don't lose the powerful little magnet that comes with it in case you want to change the mode it flashes or brightness.

It's a very simple plug and play. Remove the stock tail light lens (keep the 2 screws handy as you reuse them), remove the tail light bulb, place the supplied gasket onto the housing, insert the BAL connector into the socket, use the stock screws to hold the BAL light in place.

Adjustment of tail light and brake light intensity is done after everything is in place. BAL comes with a small magnet that you hold against the lens. You adjust the tail light intensity with the switch on but not running (3 levels).

Adjust the brake light patterns with the brake applied (comes with a cable tie to hold the front brake). There are dozens of patterns to choose from.

Don't look directly at the light when adjusting the brake - it is bright.

One of the best mods IMO. As menitioned earlier do not lose the magnet.

One of the best mods you can do. Piece of cake.

Agree with all this. But, instead of the zip tie, I used a little piece of closeline. That way, I could pull the brake lever and activate the light from the rear of the bike while adjusting the blinking patterns. P.S. to OP, You'll really be surprised how far cages stop back of you at red lights etc.

Really not necessary because the magnet flashes the next setting so you see it, or if you hold it close long enough it will go back to the previous setting.

The cable tie is simply to have the brake lever pulled in and set the brightness level. I did that first, then used the magnet for everything else. Extremely easy and doesn't require 2 people at all.

I've installed them on both my bikes.

Simply plug & play..... very easy install & setup

BUT...... if you have HD LED turn signals on the rear, you will have to transfer a wire from the OEM light to the BAL-1 light. A wire is added for the HD LEDs to owrk, but it is easily transferred to the BAL-1. I had this issue with my '12 FLHTK but it was easy to fix.

Actually there was one major modification. I had to peel the gasket off the old lamp and stick it the other way around in the lamp housing.
I used a long bungee cord to activate the brakes to test the light from the viewing position..
Really is the easiest thing you'll ever do to your bike and one of the things you'll like the most. Wait until you see other people's reactions...
