Electra Glide FLHS Help Plz
registerd from new in the UK 1991, taking her abroad soon
so thought it might be a good idea to
change the engine/transmission &
primary case oil.
I have not owned the bike for long
so my technical knowledge is limited
also have orderd a work shop manual
online but suppliers out of stock so
i guess this has prompted me to pose
my questions here as follows:
1. In detail what is the procedure for replacing
the engine oil?
2. What engine oil would you suggest to use?
3. Would you recommend useing a oil additive such as Slick 50 (or equivelant)?
4. I believe that the transmission oil is separate if so I cannot
seem to find an oil level screw, then would you just simply
drain and replenish to the manufactures recommended quantity?
5. What grade of transmission (gearbox) oil would you recommend?
6. As question 1 but primary case?
7. As question 2 but gearbox(transmission) & primary case?
8. The replacement quantities for engine/transmission & primary case oils?
Appreciate any help regarding the above and thank you in advance.
ps. Revised post to include Primary case

Don't know what you refer to here in "detail", but you drain the oil out after warm up and replace the oil filter also, clean the drain plug magnets also, not a difficult thing to do, just common sence and a manual will give you the locations of the various drain plugs under the engine and trans.
2. What engine oil would you suggest to use?
Oil preference is up to the individual, you might want to stick with the HD oil, not synthetic, because it would be prone to leaking being an older model
3. Would you recommend useing a oil additive such as Slick 50 (or
equivelant)?
NO, NO, NO additives, especially slick 50!!!!!
4. I believe that the transmission oil is separate if so I cannot
seem to find an oil level screw, then would you just simply
drain and replenish to the manufactures recommended quantity
e.g. 1 US pint?
The dipstick is on the 3/8 filler plug in the cover on the right side of the transmission
5. What grade of transmission (gearbox) oil would you recommend?
I like redline shock proof heavy, but any GEAR oil will work like Mobil 1- 75/90
It might be easier on you to just go to the dealer to purchase the oil, like HD360 motor oil, HD primary oil and HD semi synthetic trans oil with a filter

that forum you suggested before posting my original message
here but unfortunatly couldent find the answer to my questions
