I am sure this is an age old battle. I have finally made the decision to pull the trigger and buy a new bike, 2013 Road Glide Ultra. I am a used car salesman by trade so buying new is a little hard for me. But I feel I finally deserve something new.
Went and looked today and really like the bike, didn't care for the salesman. I asked a price and he asked what accessories I wanted. I told him price on bike is what matters accessories will be decided later. Never did get a firm price.
Price will come later but I was really wondering about the newer bikes are there issues to be worried about or should I look for a low mile used one?
Just curious on experiences of all of you.

Saw the bike today in Ember Red Sunglo. Damn I liked that. I thought I read that someone didn't recommend the newer models. I was hoping I was wrong.
Anyone have any idea how much negotiating you can really do on a new bike? The salesman didn't really want to discuss a discount.

Shop, shop and shop some more. A riding partner bought an 09 Ultra Classic new. He made the deal of deals when he bought the extended warranty but especially the extended service plan. He paid $1,200 for the ESP and it has paid for itself many times over. Just something to consider. BTW, my old man was a car salesman and a true dick family wise. I hope you are a better person.
Just remember, if you buy new you'll still need to change at the very least the slip on exhausts, seat, grips, and windshield. You'll then quickly find out that the head pipe, suspension, audio, and bars are subpar too.....etc, etc. You can find a 09,10, or 11 with very little mileage and use the money saved on performance and comfort upgrades.

I always email dealers located at distance I'd be willing to go to get the bike. I ask for an "out the door" price(that way no surprises on the cost). Be sure to ask for any add stuff to want on the bike in the price. For example I got the price with cams installed. I get the prices in an email so it's on paper. The I take the lowest price to my local dealer, who always meets it.

Buy used ....... The market is great for low mileage bikes. Car dealers always take bikes on trade that way you may be able to buy it wholesale if you still are connected to car dealers. As you know the fun is all in the hunt.
