There are two kits available for the FLHR & FLHX, First being 69227-04A (FLHR) & 69818-06 (FLHX) Anyone know for sure if the 69818-06 will fit a 2006 road king? My bike currently has the FLHX style directionals (on the side of the fork) The past owner must have taken the aux lights off and moved the directions down. Will the kit for the FLHX fit my bike? Then all i would need is the lights and trim rings. Has anyone added the custom FLHX kit to a road king? The wiring I can handle...Thanks for any help....I also have the detachable windshield...
I have not done the swap myself but I can tell you the custom passing lamp brackets are not intended for use with a removable windsheild. Where they mount to the forks, they are just like your current Street Glide turn siginals. If the previous owner figured out how to get the sheid to work with them (or you don't care about the sheild) then they will work fine. You will need to purchase the turn siginal kit also.
Ruggs59, used the 04 kit , if I recall the lamp buckets are pre-wired . Think u can download instructions on HD website.Check out E-bay got good deal on mine there last yr.They also offer complete kit in black if thats ur thing.
I've got the custom lamp bracket on my 05 RK & it works fine w/ detachable windshield. Why offer it for RK's if u can't detach windshield?
Like I said I never did the job myself and I probably shouldn't even have chimed in here.....
I did some looking and I found all you need is the detachable windshield kit Harley part number 69235-04. You may already have this kit if there is a place behind your street guide like turn signals for your sheild to slip in and mount into.
Then all you need is the aux lamp kit and turn siginals and a little time........
