Unless you are getting a smoking deal...

Tensioners
I would at the least upgrade the cam plate and Inner Cam bearings with torringtons.
Then cams - Chain or Gear drive if your crank run out is in spec.
Lifters/Tappets
Adjustable Push rods unless you will pull the top end off
I would also upgrade oil pump
misc gaskets and o rings.

Also need some specialty tools for the job, not over the top hard.

I say you will be 1-1.5k and that is shopping it all.

My thought is "WHY" would the dealer sell a bike that is obviously "broke" ? I mean really they could write off the labour ? or at least minimize their overhead on the repair and I can just imagine that if there is something seriously wrong inside or if the Bike self-detonates , after you ride it off the lot ...exactly how will the dealer respond ? Unless I am reading more into this than required , I would be just a tad nervous. Just being mechanically inclined might not make things work out in your favor. Just my 0.2 worth.

Which tensioner? It's normal for the primary to make a noise and very easy to adjust out. I think the cam tensioner has to be really bad for them to make a noise, or it could be that the cam tensioner was resplaced with geared cams which is a good thing.

The tensioner replacement can range anywhere from $150 to $3000, if they weren't caught soon enough they can virtually destroy the whole engine, requiring a complete overhaul. You could consider buying it if they will let you take off the cam cover to see how much damage has been done. 65K is not a problem in of it self, it all depends on the price & amount of damage that has already been done.
