I've tried a lot of different height also. Even cut off a few stock windshields to experiment. But end up getting a 7" Ultra shield from LRS (a forum sponsor) and love it! I'm 5' 10", I can see over the top and yet the wind doesn't hit me in the face. Highly recommend trying one.
I have the v-stream 10.75. With stock 12" I was looking right at the top of the shield. With the new one I am looking over it. I am 6' 0" and sit on a seat pad that is between 1" and 1 1/2".
I really like the wind management with it. And it was only about 90.00's.

Might have to check out the Windsplitter. What size is yours Old Man?
Its a 7" in dark smoke. The picture on my avatar is the Clearview. Nice shield but I live in a very hilly area. Going up and over the hills at night I had to look thru it and I could not see thru it well. On the flat is was OK. The Windsplitter cured that problem.
Been there before... Recognize that king size birdbath in the background... Howdy neighbor!!!

I'm running an 8" Clarks Custom windshield on my Ultra but I use a riders backrest so I set up straighter on it.
I've searched the many threads on this but just cant find exactly what I'm looking for. I have a 2012 Ultra and was wondering about windshield height. I like the stock 12" windshield for cold weather riding and long trips, works great for me, but I am looking for something shorter for the summer months and shorter trips. I dont care if the wind pounds my chest but I dont want it hitting me in the face and head and knocking my riding glasses around. If it helps I'm 6'3" 225 lbs with stock Ultra seat and a 34" inseam. my buddy suggested a 6" but Ive heard alot of complaints from the SG guys that the wind hits em in the face. i was looking at a 4" possibly. What do ya think?
I have a "11" Ultra. I tried a 10" Longride Shields recurve which was said to give the same wind protection as the stock 12". At about 5'10" with the stock saddle everything is good up to about 60mph, after that I experience wind buffeting of the helmet which in turn rattles my sunglasses. I took it off and noticed a marked improvement in speeds above 60mph. I have since installed the "Harley Hammock" seat which sit an inch or two higher so I know it won't work with that one on the highway. As stated elsewhere what works for one may not work for another and vice versa. It looks nice though.
