Has anyone purchased these? I'm wondering if there was any issue with them fitting since it looks like he cuts them in half then removes cat and welds back together....opposed to cutting a window out and removing cat. Any buyers of these I would greatly appreciate feedback.
It's an easy modification to cut it in half, remove the CAT and have it welded back together. Cost me $35 to have it welded and no issues what so ever. These guys on Ebay and other sites are making a killing doing this and they all do it the same way.
i wouldn't use one that was cut in half the expantion rate may be different and end up with a crack, just my .02 cents.
FWIW, it was cut and welded in a fixture, so no mounts or anything moved. And the stock exhaust is welded together at the factory (along with nearly ever other factory/aftermarket exhaust for cars and bikes), and there's not problems with all of those cracking...
While he is making a killing off of these considering the work required, $135 is about the going rate for one that was done right like this. Then you can probably sell yours to someone who removes the cats out of them (guys like this ebay seller have to get them from somewhere right?). Maybe even email him and see if he will work out a "core charge" for your pipe.
