Obsessed with power
But to the OP it's really fun showing the punk kid on his crotch rocket how GOOD a Harley can run

Stock sucks, upgrades = personal character and individualism.
That being said, I want my chosen product to perform to it's fullest potential within reason. Balancing performance with longevity of the engine. Stage 1 or 2 have always been fine for me. So I stay with HD because its what I prefer to ride, and I enhance performance because I want it to move out of it's own way when I need it to.
Why? Each step along the way has improved the ride, by giving better get away from stationary, climbing of hills, just rolling the throttle in top gear. When touring I reckon we tip the scales at around 1200 pounds and moving that lot briskly needs plenty of torque. None of this is to try and set the tarmac alight, just improve the Harley experience.

I'm excited with my current Stage IV 103 w/ 117hp and 111tq screaming to redline in a pass around a truck or whatever, BAM gone.
But as above, there is a case to be made for a 120", or a 124", or maybe even larger.... Or some kind of mild forced induction with a water to air intercooler and the internals to handle the bump in intake pressures putting stresses everywhere down stream in the motor and beyond, as do higher compression builds.
If I had the new Kawasaki 1400 that runs 9 seconds in the 1/4 mile out of the box, I would be adding aftermarket parts to make it an 8 second rocket AND corner better.
POINT #1The change is the fun, getting a plan, then buying parts and doing the install, all major fun.
POINT#2Riding the bike with the changes and feeling your choices (changes) for better or worse.
POINT#3Buying American, it is better for all of us in this country, and, important for supporting manufacturing jobs here in the USA
I love our country, and Harley Davidson Motorcycles.
I've owned a bike that will stretch out your arms and lift the wheel in 3rd gear just from rolling on too much. It was an awesome ride. However, it wasn't a bike you would ride from Key West to Seattle. Sure, some guys will say they can ride a GSXR that far, but I've never seen one and I highly doubt I ever will.
You can modify your perfect long distance stead to handle better in the mountains when you get to them. You can modify it to carry your heavy *** up the mountain too. We can modify our bikes until it fits our needs...then we'll change what we need.
