+1 on doing it yourself. I did my own, got the parts from M&M Cycles and am really happy. Spend that labor cash on more accessories! Use the information on these forums to guide you, there is a ton of experience here. I went from stock to Heritage style bars, to Heritage softail bars, to WO 14" apes. The width and wrist angle drew me to the last set.

Feel kind of lucky here. A local Indy installed my supplied bars/cables on my FLHT for $275...

Just last week I dropped $1300 (shipped) for a set of Paul Yaffe Monkey Bagger Bars from Hill Country Custom Cycles, pre-wired, new chrome controls, and braided lines. Although I'm sure I could have done it all myself, I've read the horror stories of how long it's taken and how frustrating it's been for some people, and I am just not in the mood to deal with that. Plus, they have a 'peak' in them, which I'm told makes it even worse to run the wires.
