Default Road King handlebars

I know this issue has been kicked around quite a bit.I have read all the threads over the past few month's time and again.I don't think there has been nor could thier be a definitive answer,as we all have our own perks.

Myself,I have an '09 Road King standard.been looking for some new bars for a while now.I think I will go with the WO513's.I believe them to be what I want,as I do not agree with ape's on a bagger.

Through researching the thread's I have discovered that the left switch wire's will have to be extended. The throttle by wire will have to be extended.Maybe the brake and clutch cable will need to be lenghtened.Just, maybe,it depend's on your degree of comfort on wether or not it will bind. But,nowhere have I found any mention of the right side switch wire's!

Just in case these are not what I want,'cause it's hard to make a good determination without the bars here to hold and to look at,does anyone have a used set to sell.I'm all ears!By the way,I do have a dollar or two to spend,thanks--Will.

Default When Is To Much Not Enough?

I also have an 09 Road King standard. Just my .02 but make sure you are settled on a seat you will be comfortable with. After changing out seats twice - 1st time to a takeoff from a 2010 Ultra (WOW - what a difference in comfort but it was to wide to allow for the wife's grab bars) and then to the Sundowner, I opted for the Heritage style bars. The combo rid the bike of the traditional RK backache problem but after a few more miles I'm thinking of a more extreme change of bars.
Higher rise, leaned closer to me with handgrips angled towards me more would be ideal. As you stated wires and cables/lines would need to be fitted. That would be the true cost of the next change. I think the next set would more closely resemble buckhorns? I'd be interested in seeing (sitting on) a bike with the setup that I'm considering next BEFORE I spend the money. This sh** can get expensive really fast.

Heritage style bars are the ones to get. No cable changes.

No matter which bars you choose, just about anything is better than the stock bars!

I must be the oddball but I don't find the stock bars or seat to be a problem at all. I'm 5'8".....170#'s, maybe its the adjustable backrest I installed right from the get-go?

A set of bars from a 1985 Schwinn bicycle would be a step up from the stock RK bars. I installed Heritage style ones on my RK shortly after I bought it. Very easy and cheap to do which is a plus.

+1 on the Heritage bars. That's what I went with on my '11 RKC with no cable work. After a few weeks riding I began to notice I was more comfortable with just fingers on the grips out on the road - which told me I needed to pull 'em back just a tad. Easy fix, wonderful. Next came the Sundowner, then da pegs... no end in site. You have got to find whatever fits you man and go widdit. Yes, Heritage bars are popular...
BTW - I would think bars that put the hands above the heart would go numb after a while, IMHO.

I went with the WO 518's(RK2 bars) on their site, and I extended the left and right switch controls, but didn't have to extend TBW, clutch or brake cables.
