+1 on the Heritage Style bars. Oh, by the way, no such thing as a Road King standard, only Road King (FLHR) and Road King Classic (FLHRC). The only "standard" is an Electra Glide Standard, which they stopped making in 2009.

IMO a road king with apes looks the best ,and they are very comfortable.
I don't understand all of the not wanting to change cables, it isn't that hard, and you want to get the bars up probably higher than the cables will allow.
Sit on the bike with your eyes closed ,and put your arms where you feel the most comfortable then open your eyes, this is a good way to find out what bars you need.

09-11 Softail Heritage bars are what you want. Great wrist angle & can be had from Zanottis for $51 with nothing required but a little time. PM me if you want info. I tried the "Heritage Style" & the wrist angle killed me....Pic in my sig pic. The Softail Heritage bars are in plastic. The "Heritage Style" aren't.

I have WO513's on my FLHR and I extended both the right and left switch wiring appx. 2 inches (I made my own extensions). You can always bundle it up within the nacelle. I believe the TBW was the same as there was enough slack in the original. I changed out the upper brake line and the clutch 2" + .

I'm 6'0" and with the WO513's and the HD Brawler seat, it feels about right!

Hope this helps!

Heritage bars for me dint work. Still had neck/shoulder pain. I went w/ the W1 508s but wish I had gone with the 518s.

Handlbars are like seats I guess, one size doesn't fit all. I guess the difference for me was I only spent $75 on the "Heritage Style" handlebars & then an additional $51 on the 09-11 Softail Heritage handlebars. I would hate to spend the money on expensive bars & cables just to find out their not comfortable. I'm happy with what the amount I've spent trying to find comfortable handlebars & since my mission was accomplished for less than just the cost of a set of the WO bars alone, I'm happy.

Not that odd! I changed to a Corbin Dual Tourer, and my stock bars are fine.
I'm 6'3" 240. The Heritage bars have an awkward wrist angle.

I went with the 12.5 WO chubbies and changed all the cables. It totalled over a grand at the dealer. Very happy with this choice and a mustnad touring seat. 5'8" and 200lbs. If pushed all the way forward it is a totally different ride and I like that sometimes especially when I have all of the detachables detached. Touring and commuting I keep them just a little bit towards me--super comfortable and nicely positioned for slow manuvering, e.g., ride like a pro type practice.

Worth the money for me: As a newbie the cable swaps were too intimidating--although I just changed the oil myself!

Do the soft tail heritage bars come with a cut for the TBW? I think I will head to the dealer this morning and take a look.
