Looks like things are gettin ugly out in YORK...company is pullin the plug on health-care $$ as of Monday. These guys are gonna go from payin nuttin to maybe $1000.00 a month while the strike goes on. Guess the MOCO is ready to play hard-ball...glad I aint waitin for a scoot right now! http://www.yorkdispatch.com/local/ci_5176556
It's all Fun & Games until someone loses a Health-Care....now the wives are gonna flip-out...if the company does go through with that it'll get real heated and nasty next week...Joe Mac
These folks have little idea of what these benefits are costing the MOCO. They are getting ready to find out. When I owned my own company, I initially provided healthcare to my employees. Every year, the cost went up between 20 to 30% After 5 years, the cost was killing me and I had to bail. I gave all the employees a raise equivalent to the cost of their healthcare and turned it over to them. Most took the raise and dropped the healthcare...Many could afford it, but choose not to. They might have to put off that new truck or HDTV.
They will find jobs elsewhere with benefits until the strike is over. That is how the game is played.
Even Taco Bell offers benefits.
most places wait 90 days and just because healthcare is offered it does nto mean that is FREE or at little cost. most places your still paying UP THE BUTT
I have a small company and I pay full health benefits for 7 employees. The annual cost is $65,000+ a year for that. I agree with the Motor company but this is a deeper issue with health insurance. I do not ever want to see health care socialized but we have to do something in this country about this mess. Between the layers, drug companies and everyone else with thier greasy little fingers in the pot we all pay in the end. Most companies pay 100% for the employee (per many studies that I have read) and a premium is charged for the family member. My understanding is that in York HD pays the full tab. Hey I have an idea - lets offer the jobs to those unemployed, uninsured and trying to make it out there. I would think that the union would go back to work - and quickly.
